Friends of Butoke, Inc.
Friends of Butoke supports the work of Butoke, a humanitarian NGO in the Democratic of Congo ministering to the nutritional, emergency, primary health care and educational needs of the area's poor people. Butoke also maintains an orphanage, an agrarian program and a clinic and pharmacy.
In 2010 Butoke was awarded a certificate of national recognition as a NGO by the Minister of Justice in the DRC, which bestows tax exempt status and other benefits on Butoke.
Friends of Butoke, Inc. exists to educate people about Butoke and to raise financial support and was awarded tax exempt status as a public charity under section
501 (c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue Code.
Friends of Butoke, Inc., USA, was founded by Dickens Warfield, a friend of Cecile's for 40 years. She was also instrumental in the survival of Butoke. Dickens died on October 21, 2011. Read her story.
